“GENERAR CUERPOS:
PRODUCCIONES DISCURSIVAS SEXUADAS”
El cuerpo en el siglo XXI es todo menos una certeza y plantea infinitas preguntas.
¿Cómo habitamos en el cuerpo que somos / que tenemos? ¿Cómo se presenta y nos
representa? ¿En qué medida? ¿Cómo se vuelve legible, inteligible? ¿Qué dice? ¿Qué puede
decir y qué no puede decir? ¿De quién o de qué? ¿Cómo puedo intervenir yo en lo que dice o
representa el cuerpo que soy / tengo? ¿Mi cuerpo me pertenece o le pertenezco? ¿Se trata de
una relación de pertenencia o más bien de participación sin pertenencia? ¿Cuál es el poder de
mi cuerpo? ¿Cuáles son las categorías que lo velan y revelan? ¿Qué es el cuerpo?
Estas cuestiones nos invitan a reflexionar a propósito de la relación de nuestro cuerpo con los
discursos que lo constituyen y los textos que lo materializan junto con su potencial políticosocial.
Ninguna de ellas, no obstante, discurre ajena a las articulaciones de sexos, géneros y
sexualidades. En esta ocasión, nos proponemos centrar este segundo congreso en la
generación de los cuerpos (y si se quiere su regeneración y degeneración), entendiendo que
estos “atributos” mencionados de sexo, género y sexualidad, (actualmente más como tránsito
que como esencia corporal) son indisociables de la materialización de los cuerpos, de su
propios devenir como cuerpos. Este congreso se plantea, pues, como un encuentro
interdisciplinar con el objetivo de reflexionar y debatir acerca del cuerpo como materia cultural
sexuada y sexualizada.
Las áreas temáticas sugeridas son las siguientes:
*Cuerpo y literatura: el cuerpo como texto, el cuerpo como tema literario…
*Cuerpo, cultura y antropología: costumbres, ritos, moda, medios, cultura popular…
*Cuerpo y pensamiento: lenguaje, teología, discurso científico…
*Cuerpo y normativa: cuerpo desviado, transexualidad, transgenerismo, monstruosidad…
*Cuerpo y tecnología: artificialidad, cibercuerpo, cirugía, bodybuilding…
*Cuerpo, ciencia y medicina: conocimiento, visión, mirada…
Las lenguas oficiales del congreso serán el catalán, el castellano y el inglés. Serán bienvenidas
también comunicaciones en gallego, portugués, francés e italiano.
El cuerpo de las comunicaciones no excederá las 2.500 palabras, sin contar las referencias
bibliográficas. El tiempo máximo de exposición será de 20 minutos.
Las comunicaciones aceptadas se someterán a evaluación de un comité experto para la
selección y posterior publicación en volúmenes temáticos de la colección Cuerpos que cuentan.
Las normas de publicación, plazos, etc se remitirán a l*s interesad*s en su debido momento.
Las personas interesadas deberán remitir a la dirección de correo electrónico del congreso
antes del 1 de junio de 2010 un abstract de entre 150 y 300 palabras resumiendo el contenido
de su comunicación y una lista con las palabras clave de la comunicación en castellano e
inglés. Se deberá adjuntar también los datos de contacto del/la participante: nombre completo,
institución a la que pertenece, correo electrónico, dirección postal.
El comité científico notificará la aceptación de las propuestas de comunicación a partir del día 1
de septiembre de 2010.
Las tasas de inscripción son las siguientes:
• participantes con comunicación: 90 Euros
• asistentes sin comunicación: 25 Euros

"GENERATING BODIES:
DISCURSIVE SEXED PRODUCTIONS”
In the 21st century, the body is all but a certainty, and raises endless questions.
How do we live in the body that we are / we have? How does it represent us, and to what
extent? How does it become readable, understandable? What does it tell? What can it say and
what can’t it say? Who or what does it say from? How can I get involved in what the body I am /
I have says or represents ? Does my body belong to me or do I belong to it? Is this a
relationship of belonging, or rather of participation without belonging? Which is the power of my
body? What are the categories that hide or reveal it? What is the body?
These questions invite us to think about the relationship between our body, the discourses that
constitute it, and the texts that have materialized it along with its socio-political potential. None
of them, however, runs outside the articulation of sexes, genders and sexualities.
This time, the second conference “The texts of the body” will focus on the generation of bodies
(and their regeneration and degeneration), understanding that these "attributes" --sex, gender
and sexuality-- are inseparable from the materialization of bodies, of their own becoming
bodies. The conference, then, is structured as an interdisciplinary meeting to reflect and debate
on the body as a gendered and sexualized cultural issue.
Suggested topics:
* Body and literature: the body as text, the body as a literary theme ...
* Body, culture and anthropology: customs, rituals, fashion, media, popular culture ...
* Body and mind: language, theology, scientific discourse ...
* Body and rules: deviated body, transsexuality, transgenderism, monstrosity ...
* Body and technology: artificiality, cyberbody, surgery, bodybuilding ...
* Body, science and medicine: knowledge, vision, look ...
The official conference languages will be Catalan, Spanish, and English. Communications will
also be welcome in Galician, Portuguese, French, and Italian.
The full text of the communications should not exceed 2,500 words, excluding references. The
maximum time for each presentation is 20 minutes.
Accepted papers will be subject to assessment by an expert committee which will select them to
be published in thematic volumes of the collection Bodies that Matter. The publication rules,
deadlines, etc. will be forwarded to interested people in due course.
Interested individuals must submit by email, before June 1, 2010, an abstract of 150 to 300
words summarizing the content of their communication and a list of keywords. They must also
provide the contact details: participant's full name, institution to which s/he belongs and e-mail
address.
The Scientific Committee will notify acceptance of the proposed communication from September
1, 2010.
The registration fees are:
• Participants with communication: 90 Euros
• Attendees without communication: 25 Euros
