RESEARCH PROFILE : Lisa Downing

I am currently Professor of French Discourses of Sexuality at the University of Exeter, UK. (Click here for my University web page)

I am also Director of the newly established Centre for the Interdisciplinary Study of Sexuality and Gender in Europe (CISSGE), in the School of Arts, Languages and Literatures at Exeter.

I am an experienced doctoral supervisor and welcome enquiries from potential PhD students in any of my areas of research expertise.

History and theories of sexuality; modern critical theory (psychoanalysis; queer theory; ethics); death studies; nineteenth-century French writing, thought and culture; Decadence and the fin de siècle; cinema theory.
