Third keynote speaker TBC
The philosophy of action and perception are typically treated as more or less separate disciplines. There is a growing trend, however, to emphasise the importance of action in perception, and to question the idea that they are merely instrumentally related to one another. The purpose of this conference is to present research that explores the ways in which perception and action may be related philosophically. We are interested in papers representing approaches to this issue in areas as diverse as disjunctivism, causation in perception/action, the nature of the sensory modalities, the extended mind, phenomenology, and representational theories of mind.
Please send abstracts of no more than 500 words for papers lasting no more than 40 minutes.
Abstracts should be submitted by email to Mr. Matthew Conduct and Mr. Phillip Meadows, Department of Philosophy, Durham University durhamconference@hotmail.com by 15th May 2006.
